I'm writing this blog to keep myself accountable as I work towards matching my best 5K time from high school. Seventeen years older, 60 pounds heavier and about 6 minutes per mile slower than my 18 year-old self, I'm using that benchmark of 18:24, or about 5:55 per mile pace, to motivate me to get back into shape.
What's first, you ask? Well, I just signed up for a 12-week exercise and nutrition program with Revelation Fitness here in Austin. I met with owner and head trainer Mariah MacDonald last night to talk about the program and my goals.
Before I can run that 18:24, I'm going to have to slim down. I weighed in at an all-time high of 225 pounds last night. I figure I can attain that goal 5k time at around 190 or 195 pounds. Once I get down that far, I'll start to focus on more intensive run training while maintaining that weight.
It's go time.
Carlos,
